NutriVisual AI Chrome Extension & nutritionlabel.appOur core commitment: All nutrition label processing happens locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, browsing history, or usage information.
Who We Are
NutriVisual AI and the VGL platform are developed and operated by the VGL (Visualised Graphic Label) team. This policy applies to:
- NutriVisual AI, the Chrome Extension
- VGL Mobile Web App, available at nutritionlabel.app

What Data We Collect
2.1 NutriVisual AI Chrome Extension

Chrome Extension Permissions Explained
The Extension requests the following browser permissions. Each is used solely to fulfil its single purpose of displaying a visual nutrition label.
Used exclusively to save your display preferences (e.g. whether the VGL popup opens automatically or on demand) as key-value flags on your local device. No nutrition data, page content, or personal information is written to storage. Stored values never leave your device.
Used to read the HTML content of the active grocery product page at the moment you open the Extension popup. This allows the Extension to locate the nutrition information panel and generate the visual label. Access is granted only during the interaction and is not persistent. The Extension does not monitor pages in the background.
A content script is injected into grocery product pages to automatically detect and parse the nutrition label panel when the page loads. The script reads only nutrition-related elements (e.g. energy, sugar, sodium, fat values) from the page DOM. It does not access form fields, payment information, login credentials, or any other page content. No data is transmitted to any external server; all processing is performed locally within your browser.
Remote Code
NutriVisual AI does not use remote code. All JavaScript, logic, and UI components are bundled within the Extension package. No executable code is fetched from external servers at runtime.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
- We do not use third-party advertising networks or tracking services.
- We do not integrate with any social media platforms.
- No data is sent to any analytics, marketing, or data-broker service.
Children's Privacy
NutriVisual AI and the VGL App are suitable for general audiences including children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us at privacy@nutritionlabel.app and we will take immediate steps to address it.
Data Security
Because NutriVisual AI does not collect or transmit personal data, there is no personal data at risk of breach. The only data retained locally, your display preferences, contains no personal information and can be cleared at any time by removing the Extension or clearing your browser's local storage.
Your Rights
As we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete on request. If you have any concerns about how the Extension or App handles information, please contact us at privacy@nutritionlabel.app and we will respond within 14 days.
Data Retention
Chrome Extension: Preference flags stored locally persist until you uninstall the Extension or clear browser storage. No data is held on our servers.
VGL App: Nutrition data generated during a session is not stored beyond that session. No account data is retained.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the product or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any revisions. Continued use of NutriVisual AI or the VGL App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the Chrome Web Store update notes.
